Building a culture of theatre

We conducted the Darpan Theatre Festival at Christ College on 20th & 21st July. This event was conducted in two categories – Street Theatre & Proscenium Theatre. The event involving all the departments of Christ College created a forum where each department could stage a play directed by the students themselves.

The aim of the event was to create a culture of theatre in the institution where students could participate and also watch quite a bit of theatre. A total of 13 teams participated in the inaugural event. The effort of the students was commendable with a lot of very interesting productions being staged.

Teambuilding @ Airtel

Last Friday (20th July) trainers Rajesh.P.I & Umesh P.N were at the Eagleton Golf Resort to conduct a team building and bonding workshop using theatre. The participants comprised the Enterprise Services division of Airtel. They comprised members from all over India. 49 in number, they participated in the event wholeheartedly.

The various theatre exercises were greatly appreciated by the participants. Most of them were meeting their fellow participants for the first time. By the end of the session, they put up short theatre presentations. The feedback at the end of the session was very encouraging –  

You have short circuited the entire process. Normally this kind of team building and camarederie among the team members would have taken 3-4 months for us to achieve, but you have achieved it in only 4 hours.  

This is better than walking up individually and speaking to people.  

The Head of the group Ashish Arora was thrilled and said, the creativity unleashed by the participants is fantastic.
