VISION 2020-Alexander, our third theatre production in the VISION 2020 series was staged on 4th July at the Christ College Auditorium. There were three performances on the same day. One for an audience comprising school children, another for college students and the third for the general public. All three performances had a full house.

The play was directed by Sibu Vaz and Arif Mohammed. Lighting was by Arif Mohammed. The script was written by Umesh.P.N under the guidance of Sahitya Akademi award winner Dr.K.Y.Narayanaswamy. Umesh also provided the sound. The play featured 100+ actors, dancers, musicians and a magician. It was received very well by discerning audiences.

The play looks at a dying Alexander on his death bed with his life in flash back. His biggest conflict is whether to follow the teachings of outer world conquest as espoused by his teacher Aristotle or whether to conquer the inner world as taught by his other teacher Leonnidas. The play takes a closer look at the enticement of power, which is inherent in today’s society and how it has affected mankind and continues to affect even today.
