Trainers Sibu Vaz, Mohammed Arif & Soundharya were at Lawrence School, Lovedale (Ooty) from 27 April to 30 April.  The school was celebrating their 151st anniversary and their student directed theatre production needed help. Over two days the team worked on developing the production.

The team added new music compositions, added a lighting design, choreographed new pieces and strengthened the script and overall design. All of this was done in two days. The production when staged on 29th April was a tremendous experience for the audience. The school now plans to stage it in other residential schools in Ooty.

Sri Kumaran Children’s Home (CBSE), Bangalore staged ‘The Lorax’ and ‘Wings of Fire’ on 24 Jan as part of their Theatre in Education (TIE) programme. TIE conducted by Rajesh.P.I and Umesh P.N at the school is a one year long theatre training programme that involved students of classes 7, 8 & 9.

At the culmination of their training the students were directed in these two productions by their trainers. The productions used Body Theatre style and involved synchronised group work, chorus, song and dance. The performances were staged for their fellow students and their parents.

Seventy-eight enthusiastic young students of New Horizon School, Bangalore underwent a two-day theatre experience on 25th & 26th August. At the picturesque ‘Gurukul’ on the outskirts of the city, these students had a wonderful time exploring their creativity and imagination. Several games and activities done, the workshop culminated with two short performances, one play a series of moral episodes and the other a rib-tickling story from the Panchatantra. When the trainers left, their arms were falling off, having signed their autographs on pieces of paper, books, T-shirts, caps, palms and hands

The students of Acharya Pathashala have been staging shadow plays and mime performances over the last couple of years under our training. On 21st Feb they staged two shadow plays – Mission 2020 and ‘The Life of Alexander’. In addition the students also staged a series of mime sketches. The entire programme lasted for 1 & 1/2 hours. The event was directed by Rajesh.P.I and Umesh.P.N.

Padma Sheshadri Bala Bhavan Learning Leadership Academy staged Mission 2020 on 28th January. This presentation was directed by Ajmal Aboobacker. For the children it was one more step towards realising their dreams.

The Mission 2020 presentation was also staged on the same day by the students of Rashtriya Military School – Bangalore. This was directed by Arif Mohammed and the play was staged on account of their annual day. Again, it was very well received by the audience.

Mohammed Arif directed a play titled ‘Mission 2020’ for students of Christ School, Bangalore. The play was directed in a matter of a single day. The production will be staged for the school’s Annual Day on 18th January.
