Padma Sheshadri Bala Bhavan Learning Leadership Academy staged Mission 2020 on 28th January. This presentation was directed by Ajmal Aboobacker. For the children it was one more step towards realising their dreams.
The Mission 2020 presentation was also staged on the same day by the students of Rashtriya Military School – Bangalore. This was directed by Arif Mohammed and the play was staged on account of their annual day. Again, it was very well received by the audience.

Mohammed Arif directed a play titled ‘Mission 2020’ for students of Christ School, Bangalore. The play was directed in a matter of a single day. The production will be staged for the school’s Annual Day on 18th January.

Rajesh P.I conducted a two day theatre training programme on 14th & 15th January for trainers of Navgati. The participants went through a series of theatre exercises that focused at developing their creativity.
The workshop was conducted at Ashirwad in Bangalore and over the two days, the participants noted that they had bonded very well and had a great time. As part of the training Sibu Vaz directed two short theatre pieces titled ‘A trainer’s life’ with the participants as actors. The presentations were very good and involved minimal use of props, song and movement.

Our theatre group, Script Peoples Theatre is currently organizing Christ College’s inter-collegiate theatre festival ‘Baptizer – A dip into theatre‘. In it’s second edition this year, Baptizer is an attempt to bring together the elements of a theatre festival and a competition together.
It provides space for college students to express themselves through theatre. The event invites plays from Kannada, Hindi and English – all of them, which will be staged on the same platform. The event will be conducted at the Christ College auditorium on 17th January. The event will be open in the Proscenium Theatre and Street Theatre categories.
This year’s event will also see a sprinkling of school and amateur theatre in the non-competitive category.

We started 2008 with a theatre production on 3rd Jan. The play titled Star of the East was based on the life of the spiritual founder of the CMI (Carmelites of Mary Immaculate) congregation. Fr. Elias Kuriakose Chavara is on the verge of being beatified as a saint and he is also the spiritual founder of Christ College, Bangalore where our theatre group is based in.
The theatre production was designed to provide a glimpse into the life of this social reformer, priest, educationist and visionary. The production featured about 50 actors. They were very well appreciated by the audience who comprised college and school students and members of the general public. There were two performances staged at the state-of-the-art Christ College auditorium. The play was directed by Sibu Vaz.
