One of our earlier participants was sharing with me that her boss had told her that she had a definitive edge because of her strong background in co-curricular activities. Apparently her ability to think out of the box and provide solutions and to perform when most others had given up had made her a unique performer. This had earned her the respect of the organisation. This lady had practiced theatre as a hobby for about six years now. Now she is an avid dancer.
What is important here, is the fact that the organisation recognises the role that the creative arts play in the shaping of the individual. It is not a secret that theatre especially provides an individual with a strong sense of rootedness, self belief, positivity, cofidence & a deeper understanding of oneself. Especially in trying times like this with a global recession holding sway. This is the time when an individual has to look for strength within. Theatre is not a whim, if done the right way, it is in fact a balm for the soul.
